Many rich people who started poor have grown their wealth by being generous. They share their wealth with the world. I don’t mean that you can get rich by treating your friends to lunch everyday or donating 100% of your salary to charity.
I mean that most people try to keep their wealth to themselves instead of using it to help other people help themselves. While wealth usually means money; and it can also include knowledge, skills and reputation.
If you have a good invention / product / service, find a way to make it available to everyone as cheaply as possible.
If people have to listen to an orchestra whenever they want to enjoy good music, invent and sell iPods to them. If you have a secret cooking recipe, perhaps you can follow KFC’s example. And if you struck it rich with the lottery or jackpot, you can use the money to build an apartment to provide affordable housing for many people.
Aim to make everyone as wealthy as yourself. After all, if we do unto others what we want others to do unto us, we can make the world a better place.
