A dream board / vision board is a piece of foam, cork or strong poster board where you put pictures and cut outs and messages that represent the things you want. For instance, if you would like to own a beautiful house, you obtain a picture of that house and paste it on your board. If you like a new job, paste a photo or description of the job you desire.
A dream board goes beyond simply making a list of goals to achieve. It provides an inspiring, fun, exciting way to visualize your future life and remind yourself of your goals. [Take a look at my vision board to get an idea of what yours might look like.] As you create your Dream Board, you are physically reinforcing your desires and arranging your priorities.
Facebook adds a new dimension to this process, because you can share your dream board with the world. Your friends can understand you better, comment on your dreams and possibly help you achieve them! And if you believe in the power of Conscious Creation, this is a great way to let lots of people see your Dream Board and hold your intent in their consciousness.
Here are the steps that you can use to build your online Dream Board:
1) Start dreaming. Imagine what you would like to be, do and have if you have no constrains, obligations or problems.
2) List down all your dreams on a piece of paper.
3) Test your dreams.
- What do you feel when you are living your dream? [A dream that suits you will make you feel happy and joyful.]
- Are you asking for this dream for yourself or someone else? [Your dreams are only for yourself.]
- Is this dream an end to itself or the means to an end? [Your dreams are always an end for themselves.] Keep only those dreams that pass your test.
4) Reorder your dreams, starting with the most important ones to the least important ones. You may also like to arrange them in chronological order if it makes more sense.
5) Go to Google Images and look for suitable pictures for each of your dreams. Type in keywords that apply to your desires and wishes. Select bright and colorful images that make you feel great or get you thinking about what life could be like if it were you in that picture.
6) Add a photo album entitled “My Dream Board” in Facebook.
7) Start posting photos with a description of your dreams.
For the first picture of the board, post something to remind youself of your spiritual or religious power, because you will be turning over your wishes to Him/Her/It. Comment on this with a statement such as “May the Lord guide me in my choices” or “May my Buddha Nature show me the way.” Avoid statements that imply that you are inadequate or have not accomplished your task, such as “May my wishes be granted” or “May I succeed in my quest to awaken all sentient beings”.
9) For the last picture of the board, post a picture of yourself feeling your very best, with an affirmation that assumes that all your wishes have been fulfilled, but not limiting yourself to the wishes you have stated. For instance, “Thank, my Higher Power, for partnering with me to create something even better than what I can imagine”.
10) Join the Facebook group “The Online Dream Board Group” and share your experiences with everyone.
That’s all. Do remember to have fun during the process.
